On June 10, 2025, Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Sitthichai Sawatsan outlined the province’s comprehensive 10-point development strategy under the “Next Move Prachuap” campaign during a press conference held at Hadtong Hotel in Mueang District. The initiative places a strong focus on drug suppression efforts across all eight districts, alongside broad goals for economic, environmental, social, and tourism development.
Governor Sitthichai emphasized that one of the province’s most urgent missions is a full-scale anti-narcotics operation dubbed “Three-Bay City Drug Crackdown,” aimed at dismantling both small- and large-scale drug trafficking networks. The initiative also includes sustained efforts to rehabilitate drug users through structured treatment programs. The goal, he said, is to establish Prachuap Khiri Khan as a model province known for economic resilience and safety from drug-related harm.
The “Next Move Prachuap” framework is anchored in ten key policy areas, ranging from education and water resource management to tourism promotion and livability enhancement. The governor’s strategy reflects the province’s push for integrated development driven by government agencies, community stakeholders, and local participation.
In a related development, senior district officer Tanongsak Rungratsami of Thap Sakae District spoke about the challenges faced by local enforcement teams. He noted that drug suppression operations often encounter strong resistance in many villages, and that limited government budgets force some officers to personally cover costs during arrests and legal proceedings. He added that officials must ensure that each search is backed by solid evidence to avoid legal complications. According to Tanongsak, the presence of drugs in communities not only destroys families but also fuels crime and insecurity at a broader level. He called on public cooperation to effectively tackle the problem.
Meanwhile, on the same day, June 10, 2025, Hua Hin Deputy Municipal Clerk Nuengruethai Sukchan chaired a preparatory meeting for drug rehabilitation initiatives. The meeting, held at the Phulsuk Room of the Hua Hin Municipal Office, brought together local health volunteers, police officers, and community representatives. Discussions centered on forming a formal committee to support community-based rehabilitation efforts in line with national policy. Initial screening procedures have already identified drug users in the area, and the next step involves planning comprehensive treatment and reintegration pathways.
