Hua Hin Signs Deal to Boost Water Supply System

In Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, a significant agreement was signed to enhance the water supply system, involving local government and irrigation authorities. On a recent date, officials from Hua Hin Municipality and the Royal Irrigation Department Office 14 formalized a collaborative initiative aimed at augmenting the raw water supply for Hua Hin’s municipal water production, ensuring an adequate supply for the town’s current needs.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of Hua Hin’s District Administrative Officer, Mr. Naraset Sangthong, and other key figures such as Mr. Theerawit Ngernpia, Director of the Phetchaburi Water Management and Maintenance Project, and Mr. Sukrit Yudee, Head of Water Management and Maintenance. The signing ceremony took place at the Pool Sukh room in the Hua Hin Municipal Office, witnessed by municipal and water management officials.

This partnership between Hua Hin Municipality and the Royal Irrigation Department’s Office 14 is set to bolster the local water infrastructure by integrating the HDPE pipe system from the irrigation project with the existing GRP pipe system, facilitating the transfer of raw water to the Damnoen Kasem water treatment plant.

Currently, Hua Hin receives 90% of its raw water from Pranburi Dam and 10% from Kaeng Krachan Dam in Phetchaburi Province. The initiative, which has been in progress since 2017 and will continue through 2023-2026, is part of a four-year project aimed at supporting sustainable tourism development in both Hua Hin and Cha-am districts. This strategic water management project, overseen by the Phetchaburi Royal Irrigation Project, is expected to address the area’s water supply challenges effectively.
