Phuket and Thailand’s northeastern regions have been named to TIME magazine’s list of “The World’s Best Places of 2023.”
The list, which features 50 unique spots to explore, defines Phuket as one of Thailand’s most visited areas and is recognized for its famed beaches, according to the Tourism Administration of Thailand (TAT). Phuket’s family appeal has grown with the September inauguration of Carnival Magic, a culturally themed amusement park. With an outstanding landscape of contemporary luxury lodges, the island province is also attracting more visitors to its quiet countryside.
TIME recognizes Isan for its variety and exquisite food offerings. It further claims that visitors to this off-the-beaten-path region of Thailand are rewarded with national parks, temple ruins, and Michelin-starred eateries. The 60th anniversary of Thailand’s first national park, Khao Yai, which is mostly located in Nakhon Ratchasima province and is home to elephants, gibbons, and Asian black bears, was celebrated last year.
TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn noted that having not one, but two sites included in this distinguished list of global destinations is a privilege and something that everyone in the country can be proud of. He said, “Thailand is ready to welcome visitors from all around the world as part of the “Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters” campaign.”
