Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has graciously continued the aspirations of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, which include bolstering Thailand’s textile sector, protecting Thai culture, and providing opportunities for local weavers.
Winners of the Nariratana Rajakanya Khit Pattern competition, a highlight of the Thai Silk Festival 2022, were honored by Her Royal Highness. To celebrate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 90th birthday, the Community Development Department of the Ministry of the Interior partnered with the Ladies Association to host a festival.
In an effort to promote domestically produced goods, Her Majesty also honored the winners of the “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” and “Nariratana TonKla Award” competitions organized by the Ministry of the Interior. The Princess attended the exhibition to show her appreciation for Thai craftsmanship and to recognize the work of her royal grandmother in preserving Thai textiles.
Queen Sirikit, By the Grace of God The Princess’s grandmother, the Queen Mother, has spent the better part of the last seven decades advocating for, protecting, and advancing the Thai textile industry. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit has set an example by wearing and supporting Thai textiles, which has helped local weavers keep their jobs and kept Thai culture alive.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has joined the Ministry of the Interior’s Community Development Department for a third year, according to Suttipong Juljarern, the ministry’s permanent secretary. During her travels, the Princess stopped at communities renowned for their textiles and crafts, where the locals enlightened her on the legacy of her regal grandmother.
The permanent secretary mentioned that the “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” initiative was also initiated by Her Royal Highness as a campaign to alter public opinion about the next generation of Thai textiles by showcasing how they may be fashioned to suit individuals of varying ages and events. He also spoke highly of Her Royal Highness’s courteous commitment to continuing her royal grandmother’s legacy and goals.
