The Korean Travel Association and the TAT Sign Agreements

In an effort to strengthen tourist ties between the two countries, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has inked agreements with South Korean tour companies.

The contracts were signed by TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn on December 19, 2022, during his visit to Seoul, South Korea.

The MoU was signed between the authority and the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) to facilitate the sharing of information, the promotion of tourism, the development of new market sectors, and the mutual provision of support.

In the meanwhile, an MoU was formed between the TAT and SOOBAK to employ NFTs in the promotion of Thai tourism products and services. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plans to use modern technologies and create a “tourism ecosystem” to create a more sustainable sector, therefore they will be offering a variety of bargains and incentives to attract visitors.

The TAT also signed a MoC with Korean Air, committing the two parties to work together to increase Korean Air’s flight services to Thailand. This would include the addition of additional routes to existing Thai airports. The two airlines have come to an arrangement so that American tourists visiting Thailand would have better access to Korean Air’s route network.

The Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has stated that these agreements, which are being signed in preparation for the Visit Thailand-Korea Year 2023-2024, will be beneficial to Thai tourism and aid in promoting the Kingdom of Thailand as a year-round destination for Korean tourists. The Thailand Tourism Board estimates that by 2023, there would be at least 1.1 million Koreans visiting the country.
