Thailand is the most popular destination according to a BBC poll

According to a poll by BBC News, the majority of tourists from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the rest of Europe choose Thailand as their Southeast Asian vacation destination.

According to a survey distributed to BBC Global Minds subscribers in July, 57.4 percent of those interested in traveling to Southeast Asia want to visit Thailand.

Many of the visitors to the region are seasoned adventurers on the lookout for something truly special. These vacationers often stay for a minimum of a week, and they prefer to plan their own trips rather than book them through a tour company.

According to John Williams, BBC News’ Vice President of Advertising Sales, more and more people are planning trips to Southeast Asia. Williams also said that about 80% of Europeans who want to visit the region do so within the next six months.

Overwhelmingly, vacationers want to visit a place with a rich history and unique culture, and almost as many are concerned about leaving as little an environmental footprint as possible (72%).

A community of roughly 19,000 featured users, BBC Global Minds is an online hub for sharing ideas and information. As such, it acts as a proprietary panel of international news consumers throughout the world.
