Mr. Achawan Kongkanan, Director of the TAT Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, announced on October 5 that the TAT Office Prachuap Khiri Khan organized tourism festival activities “Hawk Khao Pho” for the year 2022 will be held at the Khao Pho viewpoint, Chaiyarat Subdistrict, Bang Saphan Noi District, Prachuap Province, from the beginning of October – November 30.
The reason for this is, that during this period, there are more animals out than d uring the mating season. their habitats freeze over, leaving them short on food and water. The falcon will fly over 2,000-4,000 kilometers (km) around the North Pole and through warm regions including Siberia, China, Mongolia, Korea, and Japan before making its way south through Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. With the Gulf of Thailand serving as a vast body of water and the country’s location as a connecting point between temperate and tropical regions, Thailand is an ideal habitat for migrating hawks, t Taking advantage of the scorching winds to get altitude and then heading south. Therefore, there are a great number of hawks that stop at the Gulf of Thailand on their annual migration. Because it may deplete its energy too quickly, the falcon avoids flying over the ocean. In other words, you shouldn’t miss this incredible event. It is fascinating and difficult to see the migratory falcons as they fly out during the day in search of food and then regroup in midair to feast.
“Previously, we had held it at “Khao Radar,” but due to several issues, the gathering was moved to the Khao Pho viewpoint to observe the new falcons, c onsidering the convenience of the trip. The parking situation is manageable. A Buddha image of Somdej Phra Ming Muni Si Phothong (Luang Pho Pho Thong) is ensconced in a spacious courtyard that extends from the summit of Khao Pho. The falcon may be seen clearly from every angle in the full panorama. Visitors and curious onlookers are encouraged to participate in the falconry throughout the month. Between the months of October and November Falcons are most visible between the hours of 7:00 and 11:00 in the morning and 2:00 and 5:00 in the afternoon. Due to a lack of resources, novices should come prepared with an 8x magnification instrument, such as an 8×32, 8×40, or 8×42. I in such case there will be no expenses.”
Minister of the Chairaj Subdistrict Administrative Organization Mr. Banthit Chubuathong has said that as a result of the falconry practiced in Khao Pho , Prachuap Province will have access to an additional tourism route. Market ecotourisms along the walk leading to the falconry lookout are prepared, so that people are getting where they need to go is a breeze. Visitors can try their hand at falconry with the help of trained staff and binoculars.
