A local food competition is ongoing in Bang Saphan with sub-districts competing with each other and raising tourism in the area. The event was held in the courtyard of Wat Khao Bot in the municipality of Kamnoppakhun Subdistrict, Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province with cooperation from various government agencies, state enterprises and local government organizations as well as various private sectors lending a hand in organising the event.
The coconut curry pork was a particular favourite, as it is the local food of Bang Saphan District and Somtam Leela, Bang Saphan style. Mr Lertyot Yamprai (Bang Saphan District) is the chairman of the award giving prizes to the contestants to cook local dishes. which has a total of 6 teams to compete in the in ‘Legend of Muangthong No. 13’ competition. The results of the competition are as follows.
The winning team is the Thong Mongkhon Subdistrict Administrative Organization team, receiving 7,000 baht in cash, along with a trophy/certificate of honour. The first runner-up prize is the Thongchai Subdistrict Administrative Organization team, receiving 5,000 baht cash and a trophy/certificate of honour. The second runner-up prize is the Mae Ramphueng Subdistrict Administrative Organization team, receiving 4,000 baht in cash, along with a trophy/certificate of honour.
Mr Lertyot said that he would like to thank the organizing committee, all departments, and those involved in this event, having successfully organised a tourism promotion event in Bang Saphan District this year to promote local culture and traditions. It was apparent that cooperation and the unity of Bang Saphan people go hand in hand. Locally, there are many tourist attractions scattered throughout the area, with many hotels and resorts that can easily accommodate tourists. Therefore, it is considered that Bang Saphan District has high tourism potential. If the government, the private sector, and the people can plan together to promote Bang Saphan District to be well known and organise a monthly tourism program. Bang Saphan District can increase visitations to tourist attractions by making an annual program, or monthly program of activities, additionally by making a package of 3 days 2 nights or 2 days 1 night for tourists they can collaborate with TAT. in bringing to the travel calendar to publicize Attract both Thai and foreign tourists to know more about Bang Saphan to attract money from tourism to distribute income to the people of Bang Saphan
