PAO Prachuap teams up with Market Village Hua Hin to promote tourism via QR CODE

Located in Market Village Hua Hin, the signboard that displays 10 different major tourist attractions in Hua Hin is set up to promote city tourism to Thai and foreign visitors who can scan QR CODEs for more information about accommodations, restaurants, and places nearby to visit.

On June 27, 2022 at the activity yard in front of Market Village Shopping Center, Hua Hin, Mr. Sarawut Limarunrak President of the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) Prachuap Khiri Khan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the Tourism Promotion Program for the year 2022 with Mr. Amornthep Aummeepian, General Manager of Market Village Hua Hin, with Mr. Taweesin Phatthanaphirat, President of Prachuap Province Administrative Organization. Mr. Udomsuk Nimsian, President of the Prachuap Provincial Tourism Business Association, the executive team, and the officials of the Prachuap Province PAO attended as witnesses.

Mr. Sarawut said that Market Village Hua Hin Shopping Center is one of the most popular shopping centers in the province. There are a lot of customers each day, which will help the project achieve its objective to promote city tourism. The cooperation between the public and the private sector has been formed to recommend tourist attractions of the province to tourists who search by scanning the QR CODEs on their mobile phones at the signboard. Initially, 10 signs were installed according to the leading attractions of each district, consisting of:

1. Huai Mongkol Temple
2. Thao Kosa Park
3. Wat Tan Chet Yot
4. Phraya Nakhon Cave
5. Kui Buri National Park
6. Kui Buri Temple
7. Ao Noi Temple
8. Wanakorn National Park
9. Wat Tang Sai
10. Pier to Koh Talu

It is said that if the feedback is satisfactory from this pilot project, the government will continue to expand more installations in various tourist attractions.

Mr. Amornthep Uammeepian, General Manager of Market Village Hua Hin Shopping Center, as a director of the Prachuap Province Tourism Business Association, said that creating a tourist attraction signboard by installing and having QR codes for tourists to check out is important because it is another channel for public relations for tourist attractions, accommodations, restaurants, as well as various routes. It helps stimulate tourism in another way because, at present, 90% of Thai tourists travel in Prachuap Khiri Khan province while the rest are foreigners with a higher tendency to increase accordingly. Currently, during holidays and festivals, there are 20,000-25,000 both Thai tourists and foreigners entering the shopping center, and expected to gradually increase respectively.
