(June 19, 1965) Mr Krisada Phat Noi, Advisor of the Ron Sub-District Cultural Council and the Sheriff Advisor of Bang Saphan District, revealed that after the media had released the news about the discovery of gold ore in Khlong Bang Saphan; tourists came to visit for good luck, the Bang Saphan Thong Pan Tourism has published this as news to the public.
Some Thai families have set up tours to attract people interested in travelling and learning about the local way of life. The relevant government agencies are happy to see this form of bundling with tourism and Bang Saphan Gold Ore; it brings career and business opportunities for the villagers. The villagers in the nearby orchards also welcome tourists’ visiting, as it has greatly increased their income by renting gold panning filters, selling fruits and souvenirs, as well as increasing the restaurants’ customers.
Mr Krisada said the Cultural Council has been involved in researching this gold panning culture in Bang Saphan, hoping to attract more tourists’ attention. This is believed to be in line with the government’s imminent easing of measures to bring about the economic stimulus package after the coronavirus outbreak.
