Local authorities and 200 community members recently renewed their commitment to eradicating corruption via procession along the roads of Hua Hin. The purpose was to remind the community that they seek to create corruption free processes.

In attendance was Mr. Polkrit Phuangwalaisin, (Hua Hin Sheriff), Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, (Mayor of Hua Hin), Mr. Jeerawat Prahmanee, (Permanent Secretary of Hua Hin Municipality & Chairman of the STRONG Club), Mrs. Usa Phuangwalaisin, President of the Red Cross, Hua Hin District and Mr. Suchart Pridiprem, Director of Hua Hin School who all joined to release the anti-corruption message from members of the STRONG club.

The STRONG club, also known as the Sufficiency Organization Against Corruption Government is comprised of the private sector, clubs, educational institutions and about 200 people from the community. The group organised a procession in the Hua Hin municipality as a walk to campaign against corruption from Pone King Phet Public Park to along roads in the Hua Hin Municipality. The intention was to show commitment to preventing and suppressing corruption and to announce the position of all sectors that are willing to participate in building a transparent society and denying opportunities for corruption to occur in the community.

Mr. Jeerawat Prahmanee, chairman of the STRONG Club, Hua Hin Municipality, said that the STRONG Club was established in 2020 to create a society that does not tolerate corruption by using the public sector network as a driving mechanism to raise awareness of the distinction between personal interests and common interests for government officials, merchants, citizens, students and communities of Hua Hin Municipality.

Their aim is to refuse to tolerate corruption including the issues of conflicts of interest of government officials.  The group has been selected by the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to be a pilot organization for the Sufficiency Against Corruption Organization or STRONG, which in 2022 has organized training for new members of the club. The desired goal is to make the municipality a corruption-free organization where work is transparent, is not concealed and free of complaints.
