A momentous event took place in Thap Tai Subdistrict, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, as the Deputy Governor of Prachuap Province, Mr. Kittiphong Sukphakul, presided over the opening ceremony of the “New Theory Agriculture Learning Center for Urban Ways of Life” Beloved King Learning Center. The center was established to pay homage to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s legacy of benevolence and to propagate his pioneering work in agriculture.
At the inauguration, a group of distinguished guests, including Mr. Achawan Kongkanan, director of the TAT Prachuap Office, Mr. Chaowarat Kerdthong, Prime Minister of the Thap Tai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and several famous actors, such as Oh Anuchit Sapunpong, Mam Jintara Sukphat, Bum Ranya Siyanon, Tuk Ta Tungkamanee, and Top Daraneenuch Photipiti, were in attendance.
The New Theory Agriculture Learning Center is located on a one-rai plot and features a demonstration model that reflects the urban lifestyle and living conditions of the people. The center’s mission is to disseminate new theoretical agricultural knowledge to students and those who are interested through practical training. The center follows the principle of sufficiency agriculture and emphasizes growing vegetables free of toxic substances that can be consumed daily without incurring additional costs. If surplus produce is generated, it can be shared or sold to neighbors, serving as a supplementary income stream.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Prachuap Province toured the area and participated in watering the rubber trees that King Bhumibol Adulyadej had cared for. He also visited the King Rama IX exhibition and the first royally initiated rural development project on Huay Mongkol-Hua Hin Road, where he viewed the royal car that King Rama IX used to perform his royal duties and visit people in the area. He also sprinkled holy water for the prosperity of those who attended the event.
The project chairman, Ms. Benjanit Sukhorak bush, stated that the New Theory Agriculture Learning Center was designed to introduce His Highness’s teachings on the New Theory of Agriculture, which are immensely beneficial to the lives of the Thai people. Unfortunately, many people still do not fully understand the concept of New Theory Agriculture and think that it is impossible to adopt His Majesty’s teachings while still living in the city. However, the reality is that these teachings can be adapted to any lifestyle and location, allowing individuals to improve their lives by growing their own produce and even pursuing a career in agriculture.
In addition to its educational mission, the center also serves as a place where Thai people can pay their respects to the late King and honor his contributions to agriculture and rural development. The New Theory Agriculture Learning Center is a testament to the enduring legacy of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and his vision for a better and more sustainable future for all Thais.
