Prachuap Khiri Khan Hosts Eco-Friendly Event

On March 30, 2024, Prachuap Khiri Khan witnessed a significant environmental initiative led by prominent local figures, including former Governor Mr. Weera Sriwattanatrakul and Mr. Sarawut Lim Arunrak, President of the Provincial Administrative Organization. They inaugurated a multi-faceted environmental event featuring activities such as walking, running, planting beach forests, and releasing blue swimming crabs at Pranburi Forest Park.

The event, organized in a low-carbon format, aimed to promote physical health and environmental sustainability. Participants engaged in a 5-kilometer walk/run and contributed to the ecological restoration by planting trees and releasing 72 adult blue swimming crabs into the sea, enhancing the marine ecosystem’s health. The activities took place within the Pak Nam Pranburi Forestry Development Project, an area transformed from degradation to a vibrant mangrove forest since 1995.

This environmental endeavor coincided with the celebration of Reporter’s Day by the Prachuap Khiri Khan Reporters Club, emphasizing the dual goals of fostering health and environmental conservation among journalists and community partners. Mr. Apichat Hongsakul, the club’s president, highlighted the event’s significance in promoting a low-carbon society and addressing global warming.

Former Governor Weera emphasized the importance of such activities for journalists and the community, noting the dual benefits of physical health and environmental stewardship. He shared his personal commitment to maintaining health and fitness post-retirement, underscoring the broader message of the event.

The event drew various officials and community leaders, including Mr. Thaweesin Phatthanapirat, Mr. Nitat Chanthong, and representatives from local organizations and enterprises, all of whom contributed to the successful execution of the day’s environmentally focused activities.
