Transport Company Announces Plan to Transport 60,000 Passengers Daily During Songkran Holidays

The Transport Company has unveiled its plan to cater to the transportation needs of thousands of people traveling from Bangkok to the provinces for the long Songkran holidays. The state-owned and private buses and vans will run 4,500 trips per day, serving an estimated 60,000 passengers during the festive season.

According to Sanyalak Panwattanalikhit, the Managing Director of the Transport Company, the number of passengers is expected to rise by 10% during the April 10-12 period. After the five-day holiday, approximately 53,000 people are expected to return to Bangkok each day from April 16 to 18. To accommodate this, the Transport Company and its private partners will schedule 3,300 bus and van trips back to Bangkok.

In light of the anticipated surge in demand, Sanyalak advised passengers to arrive at bus terminals two or three hours before their scheduled departure time. He also recommended that tickets be purchased ahead of time, either at terminal ticket booths or through the company’s website, app, or ticket agents nationwide.

To further assist holiday travelers, the Transport Company is offering a 10% discount on travel before and after the Songkran holiday. Additionally, the company is providing free vehicle inspections at its Rangsit maintenance service center until April 12.

To ensure smooth travel during the festival season, the Transport Company has requested permission from the Krung Thep Apiwat Central Terminal to use the central railway station for buses to make U-turns. This measure will help ease traffic at the Morchit Bus Terminal, where congestion is expected to be heavy during the Songkran travel period.

With its comprehensive plan and proactive measures, the Transport Company is determined to provide safe and efficient transportation services to the thousands of travelers expected to make their journeys during the upcoming Songkran holiday.
