The Managing Director of Jobs DB Recruitment (Thailand), Duangporn Promond, said, “According to JobsDB’s database and the job market outlook survey, four companies have recovered quickly after the COVID-19 situation. The sharp increase in plastic use from food delivery during the outbreak benefited the chemical, plastics, paper and petrochemical sectors. Changes in consumer behavior and government support for the adoption of computer hardware stimulated growth in the computer sector. After the control measures for the epidemic began to ease, the manufacturing industry’s output index increased. During the two years of the epidemic crisis, the health and medical industry was crucial. The rapid recovery of these industries has led to a rebound in demand for skilled workers.

The most in-demand job functions include:

1) Computer / IT 19.1

2) Sales, customer service and business development 19.0

3) Engineering 13.9

The functions with the most job openings are:

1) E-commerce 71.7

2) Transportation 43.8

3) Finance and banking 26.2%.

The COVID-19 situation has encouraged and stimulated business operations, commerce and online transactions. In addition, the pandemic has highlighted these functions as key players in enabling companies to fully adapt to the digital age.

JobsDB, in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and The Network, also conducted a global survey of more than 200,000 companies in 190 countries called “Decoding Digital Talent. This report examined the evolving needs of global digital talent and found that they are eager to advance their careers in the same field. The main reasons they want to change jobs are the need for career growth and the desire to earn a higher salary. In addition, the pandemic has made more digital workers aware of the convenience of remote work.

Today, nearly 70% of digital workers are willing to work remotely, even for a company that has no physical presence in their country. Digital talent would prefer to work respectively in order of preference for a company based in the US, then in the UK, Australia, and China and finally in Singapore.

Another interesting finding from the survey is that 42% of digital workers are concerned about increasing competition in the labor market and advanced technologies that could replace the workforce. They are increasingly concerned that automation, including improved algorithms, robotics or advanced software, will eventually replace them. As a result, most digital workers must constantly upgrade their skills to keep up with the ever-changing technology required for their jobs to ensure stable and sustainable employment.
