Hua Hin Hosts Sepak Takraw Tournament for Local Players

On July 20, 2025, the Hua Hin Municipality officially opened a regional sepak takraw competition aimed at promoting sportsmanship and skill development among local residents.

The Hua Hin Municipality launched a sepak takraw tournament for the general public on July 20, 2025, at the covered sports dome of Hua Hin School. The competition, organized in collaboration with the Hua Hin Sports Association, seeks to encourage athletic engagement among residents while fostering values such as unity, respect, and fair play.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the event. Eligibility was limited to players who are either registered residents of Hua Hin District or have been employed in the area for no less than three months. The tournament focuses on amateur male athletes and is part of a broader effort to promote traditional Thai sports and community involvement.

Prizes will be awarded to the top four teams, with the champion team receiving 3,000 baht and a trophy. The first runner-up will earn 2,000 baht, followed by the second runner-up with 1,000 baht, and the third runner-up receiving 500 baht. All top teams will also receive commemorative trophies.

The event forms part of a local strategy to provide sporting opportunities for youth and adults alike, encouraging not only physical activity but also community cohesion.

The tournament was inaugurated by Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul. Police Major General Damrongsak Thongngamtakul, Commander of the Appeals Division and President of the Hua Hin Sports Association, delivered the opening remarks. Other attendees included Deputy Mayor Sanphop Uengratsamee, municipal council members, education staff, sports officials, and representatives from local tourism and civic organizations.
