The award was presented by Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, during the third national meeting focused on promoting awareness of the roles of coastal communities and marine protection volunteers. The event was held at Prachuap Wittayalai School in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

The gathering brought together more than 200 participants, including government officials, local leaders, and residents from Sam Roi Yot, Kui Buri, and Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan districts. The meeting aimed to enhance collaboration between citizens and government bodies in protecting and restoring marine and coastal ecosystems.

Minister Varawut emphasized the critical role of coastal communities and volunteers in marine resource management. “These communities live closest to the resources and are the first to witness environmental changes. Their ability to monitor and report irregularities is vital,” he stated. The approach aligns with national policy encouraging public participation in managing the country’s natural assets, particularly through cooperation with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources.
The minister further noted the importance of building shared understanding between the department and marine volunteers to ensure long-term sustainability. He extended his gratitude to all involved for their continued commitment to preserving Thailand’s marine environment.

Among the attendees were Kittiphong Sukphakoon, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan; Sarawut Lim-arunrak, President of the Provincial Administrative Organization; and officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, as well as representatives from related agencies and community networks.
