Hua Hin launches children’s water safety and drowning prevention program

On May 21-23, 2025, the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin, in collaboration with government and private organizations, launched the inaugural Children’s Water Safety & Drowning Prevention program aimed at teaching young students essential skills for water safety. The project focused on imparting knowledge about floating, swimming for survival, drowning prevention techniques, basic life-saving skills including CPR, use of AED devices, and how to respond to choking emergencies.

The program was held at Elder Blossom and Navee Pirom venues in Hua Hin and involved kindergarten students from Ban Nong Khon Hua Hin School. Trainers and instructors from various local agencies participated in the initiative, including the Pranburi Marine Police, Hua Hin Municipality, Hua Hin Hospital, and the Sawang Hua Hin Rescue Foundation. Three trainers from the rescue foundation—Ms. Khwanmanat Kaewsard (EMT-B), Ms. Niranatchaporn Jiwapong (EMT-B), and Mr. Supawat Thapnaka (EMR)—were assigned to share life-saving skills with the children to help them protect themselves and assist others while enjoying water activities safely.

The event was officially opened by Mr. Boonkerd Atthanisakorn, chairman of the Sawang Hua Hin Rescue Foundation. The foundation expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin for organizing the program and for including the rescue team as key contributors in this important effort to enhance child safety in aquatic environments.

The collaboration underscores a growing emphasis on water safety education among young learners in the region, recognizing the critical importance of prevention and preparedness to reduce the risk of drowning incidents.
