Mangrove Restoration Project Launched in Prachuap Khiri Khan

On May 19, 2025, a community-driven mangrove forest restoration project was launched in Moo 1, Phong Sasana subdistrict, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The initiative aims to rehabilitate approximately three rai of abandoned shrimp farming land, marking National Mangrove Forest Day and the country’s annual Arbor Day.

The effort brought together public sector agencies, private organizations, and local residents to support coastal ecosystem recovery. The project is part of a broader campaign to combat environmental degradation and encourage sustainable land use practices in the region.

Later that morning at 10:00 AM, a tribute ceremony was held at the Prince of Chumphon Shrine in Ao Yang village, where religious offerings and merit-making activities took place.

In the afternoon, at 1:30 PM, a visit was made to local agricultural groups in Khlong Loi, including a large-scale durian plantation and Chanathip cocoa farm. The visit aimed to highlight and promote the province’s distinctive agricultural products.

The event was presided over by Suthin Prasertsak, district chief of Bang Saphan, with participation from various government units, community members, and local stakeholders.
