Prachuap Khiri Khan province recently hosted the first-ever Songkran and Beach Music Festival, known as “Thong Chai Songkran Samran Suk,” as part of a broader initiative to promote local tourism. The event took place on the evening of April 16 at Nong Mongkol Beach, Village No. 7, Thong Chai Subdistrict, Bang Saphan District.

The festival spanned four days, from April 13 to 16, and included a range of cultural and musical activities aimed at drawing visitors and highlighting the area’s coastal charm. On the final morning, a religious ceremony was held featuring almsgiving, a Buddha bathing ritual, and a traditional blessing ceremony for the elderly. That afternoon, a parade featuring community members and local groups marked the festive spirit of the Songkran celebrations.
At 7:30 p.m., the festival was formally opened with a firework display, followed by performances from local and Bangkok-based bands, including PP Combo and Wong Klom. Thousands of residents and visitors attended the beachfront concert.

The event was viewed as a success by local authorities, who emphasized its role in promoting Nong Mongkol Beach as an emerging tourist destination. The location lies adjacent to the well-known Ban Krut Beach and is expected to benefit from increased visibility. Local leaders have indicated plans to scale up future editions of the festival to further support tourism in the region.
Attending the event were local officials including the district chief, municipal leaders, subdistrict administrators, village heads, teachers, students, and residents from the Thong Chai community.
