Hua Hin launches crime crackdown for Songkran safety

The operation officially began at 7:00 p.m. in front of Hua Hin Police Station, with Pol. Col. Kampanat Na Wichai, Superintendent of Hua Hin Police, presiding over the deployment ceremony. The initiative falls under nationwide directives issued by National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet and Region 7 Commander Pol. Lt. Gen. Naiwat Phadermchit, calling for joint efforts from multiple agencies to combat crime during the festival.

Authorities are focusing on crime suppression, traffic management, and road accident prevention, with particular attention on illegal street racing and the potential presence of criminals at major event sites. Hua Hin, a globally recognized tourist destination, is expected to see an influx of visitors, prompting local law enforcement to increase security measures to safeguard lives and property.

Around 200 personnel participated in the operation’s launch, including officers from immigration police, the Tourist Police Division, local administrative bodies, and volunteers. The campaign also involves coordination with military forces and district officials to maintain public order during the holiday.

Pol. Col. Kampanat emphasized that the campaign is designed not only to prevent crime but also to strengthen public confidence and reassure both residents and tourists of their safety during the celebrations. The focus is on proactive, visible law enforcement in busy areas to deter criminal activity and ensure a peaceful and orderly environment throughout the Songkran festival.
