PHANG NGA — A 64-year-old German national was arrested in Thailand’s Phang Nga province on March 24, 2025, after attempting to escape through a window during an immigration raid. Authorities identified the man, known only as Reiner, who had been living illegally in the country for four months.
According to immigration officials, Reiner had previously been deported from Thailand but managed to re-enter the country unlawfully. Acting on intelligence reports, officers tracked him to a residence in Moo 1, Thaimuang district. When officials arrived and identified themselves, the suspect refused to cooperate and attempted to flee through a bedroom window but was swiftly apprehended.
A review of his passport revealed that while he had entry stamps for Malaysia, he lacked a valid permit for Thailand. Reiner admitted to entering the country illegally, detailing his route from Germany to Malaysia before using a long-tail boat to cross into Thailand. He stated that he had returned to visit his ill mother, who later passed away, but remained in the country beyond the legal period.
Reiner has been charged with illegal entry and transferred to Thaimuang Police Station for further legal proceedings. Officials involved in the operation included local immigration officers and police personnel overseeing immigration enforcement in the province.
