Cha-Am hosts 2025 International Kite Festival

The International Kite Festival 2025 at Cha-Am officially opened on March 21 along the northern Cha-Am beachfront in Phetchaburi Province. Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the three-day event showcases a variety of traditional Thai kites and international designs under the theme “KITETOPIA – A Kingdom of Unlimited Kites.”

This year’s festival is part of the broader “Thailand Summer Festival 2025,” aligned with the government’s designation of 2025 as the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year.” TAT’s objective is to create sustained momentum in the tourism sector by promoting local cultural assets through international-scale events.

The kite festival features displays from over 10 countries, including the United States, Colombia, France, Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, China, and Thailand. A dedicated zone highlights kites from Thailand’s four regions, such as the Chula and Pakpao kites from the Central region, the Kwai and Peacock kites from the South, and the Praroung kite from the North.

Visitors can explore interactive exhibits and workshops, including demonstrations of traditional kite-making techniques, kite coloring activities, and hands-on kite construction. An exclusive Ring Side Kite Tour offers guided insights into the art of kite flying from specialists.

Recreational areas include a public flying zone, the “Kite Public Playground,” and an elevated viewing platform known as the Kite Tower. The festival also features over 30 kite vendors, more than 50 food trucks, and a wide selection of local cuisine unique to Phetchaburi.

Musical performances enhance the festive atmosphere each evening. Headliners include Musketeers on March 21, Slapkiss on March 22, and Singto Numchok on March 23, along with local performers throughout the event.

Admission to the International Kite Festival 2025 at Cha-Am is free, with activities open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.

In attendance at the opening ceremony were Phetchaburi Governor Pol. Lt. Phopchanok Chalanukroh and TAT Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business, Jirawadee Khunsub.
