Hua Hin Municipality has been selected as one of Thailand’s representatives for the 2024 ASEAN Sustainable Urban Environment Award, recognizing its efforts in environmental sustainability and clean air management.

The award ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) on March 17, 2025, at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok, honored 81 cities for their achievements in balanced urban development. Among the winners were five municipalities chosen to represent Thailand at the ASEAN level, including Hua Hin Municipality in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

Deputy Mayor Atichat Chaisri accepted the Certificate of Recognition for Clean Air on behalf of Hua Hin Municipality from Dr. Pirun Saiyasitphanich, Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment. The event also featured a forum for knowledge exchange on sustainable urban practices, with representatives from various local government agencies, environmental organizations, and volunteers in attendance.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on highlighted the government’s ongoing commitment to sustainable urban development. He emphasized the importance of economic, social, and environmental balance, aiming to create low-carbon cities that are resilient to climate change. The initiative encourages participation from all sectors to ensure long-term sustainability and urban well-being.
