Authorities in Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, recently organized a refresher training program for Village Security Units (Chor Ror Bor) to enhance their knowledge and capabilities in maintaining local security. The initiative aims to strengthen community safety amid growing concerns over drug trafficking, human smuggling, and other security challenges in the border district.
The training session, held on January 10, 2025, at the Thap Sakae District Office, brought together 282 members of the local Village Security Units. The program is part of a broader effort under the Ministry of Interior’s 2008 regulations, which mandate the establishment of these units in every village to support law enforcement in ensuring public order. Key responsibilities of the units include crime prevention, safeguarding residents’ property, and assisting in addressing drug-related issues.

Thap Sakae’s location along the border has led to a rise in illicit activities, including unauthorized migrant entry and drug trafficking. To address these challenges, authorities have emphasized the importance of ongoing training for Village Security Unit leaders at the subdistrict and village levels. The latest session covered various topics, including criminal law procedures, enforcement powers under Ministry of Interior regulations, search and arrest protocols, operational tactics, and the use of essential equipment. Participants also received practical weapons training to prepare them for real-world scenarios.
The event was presided over by Thap Sakae District Chief Sitthiporn Khonghom. Also in attendance were senior district officials, village heads, and security personnel. At the conclusion of the training, Preeda Sukjai, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, presented certificates to the participants on behalf of the provincial governor.
