Emergency Meeting Held in Prachuap Khiri Khan Over Child Abuse Case

On March 10, 2025, at 1:30 PM, an urgent meeting was convened at the Provincial Hall of Prachuap Khiri Khan, located in the provincial capital, to address the ongoing child abuse case and discuss preventive measures. The meeting, led by Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Sittichai Sawatsan, focused on the investigation into a teacher arrested for possessing child pornography, and strategies to assist and protect the victims.

Accompanying the governor were key figures, including Deputy Governor Sinatorn Oeiem, District Chief of Kui Buri Aram Yan Kaew, and Police Colonel Worawatchara Kaemwong, along with relevant government officials. The session included updates on the criminal case involving the teacher, who was arrested after being found in possession of illicit material involving children, and ongoing efforts to offer support to the victims.

Governor Sittichai emphasized the sensitive nature of the case, particularly the young age of the victims. He underscored the importance of handling the situation with care to protect the victims’ mental well-being and privacy, particularly in avoiding any media exposure that could further harm their reputations. The governor also called for the school to promptly provide information to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Discussions during the meeting also included measures to protect other children in the community and schools, highlighting the need for vigilance against individuals who may pose a risk to minors. The governor directed district officials to work closely with local community leaders and educators to monitor and report any suspicious behaviors in order to prevent further incidents.

The authorities have filed charges against the teacher for possessing child pornography for sexual exploitation, and he has been suspended from his teaching position. The cybercrime unit confirmed that the teacher had uploaded the illicit materials to a cloud platform but had not distributed them publicly. Investigations are ongoing, and further charges, including sexual abuse and exploitation, may be filed. Police are waiting to question additional individuals involved in the case.

In response to the emotional impact on the victims, a multi-disciplinary team has been assigned to provide psychological support. Authorities are coordinating with the victims’ families to expedite assistance, including compensation, through an urgent subcommittee meeting.

This urgent meeting and subsequent actions reflect the provincial government’s commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring swift action against those who exploit minors for any purpose.
