On March 8, 2025, Deputy Commerce Minister Naphinthorn Sriprapa officially opened the 10th edition of the “Cha-am Crab Tasting Festival.” The event, held at Cha-am Beach in Phetchaburi, aims to promote tourism and local food culture, showcasing Cha-am’s signature blue crab and other seafood delicacies.

The festival, which has gained widespread recognition over the years, continues to attract visitors from both Thailand and abroad. The event is a key part of the regional tourism strategy, focusing on Phetchaburi’s UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy designation. By celebrating Cha-am’s rich seafood heritage, the festival aligns with efforts to elevate the region’s local cuisine to a global level.
In a significant gesture, Minister Naphinthorn, along with local officials, released 300,000 blue crabs into the sea to enhance the local ecosystem and ensure a sustainable seafood supply for future generations of tourists. This action underscores the festival’s commitment to environmental conservation.

Minister Naphinthorn emphasized that Cha-am has become one of Thailand’s key tourist destinations, generating significant revenue and contributing to local economic growth. The ongoing collaboration between the Cha-am Municipality, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and various private sectors, including Singha Corporation, has helped raise the profile of the event and attract visitors from around the world.
