Thailand has welcomed over 5.5 million international tourists in the first six weeks of 2025, generating more than 270 billion baht in revenue, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The influx of visitors, which spans a variety of global markets, continues to contribute significantly to the country’s economic recovery.
Between January 1 and February 16, 2025, the number of tourists arriving from long-haul destinations saw modest growth, particularly from countries like Russia, France, and the United States. Russian arrivals experienced the most substantial increase, rising by 7.54% compared to the previous week. However, the overall number of international visitors for the week ending February 16 stood at 784,175, representing a slight decline of 6.36% compared to the previous week.
The top five sources of visitors during this period were Malaysia, China, Russia, South Korea, and India. These nations remain key contributors to Thailand’s tourism industry, ensuring a steady stream of international travelers. The ministry anticipates continued growth in visitor numbers, bolstered by upcoming tourism and sports events, as well as streamlined travel protocols and favorable conditions for international visitors.
Minister Sorawong Thienthong attributed Thailand’s position as one of the world’s top destinations to its diverse range of attractions and its well-established tourism infrastructure, both of which continue to drive economic growth and attract tourists from around the globe.
