Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Leads Meeting on Key Regional Policies in Pran Buri

Officials in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province convened a meeting on February 19, 2025, at Pran Buri District Hall to outline operational guidelines and assess progress on key government and Ministry of Interior policies. The discussion focused on local economic conditions, infrastructure, water management, and social issues affecting the district.

Pran Buri District, located in the northern part of the province, covers an area of 765.37 square kilometers and is home to approximately 77,448 residents across 41,637 households. The district features diverse geography, including coastal areas along the Gulf of Thailand, agricultural lands, and forested regions. The local economy relies on agriculture, with key crops such as pineapples, rubber, and rice, as well as livestock farming and fisheries. Tourism also plays a role, with attractions like the Sirinath Rachini Mangrove Forest Learning Center and Pran Buri Forest Park drawing visitors.

One of the major topics addressed was water management, particularly in relation to drought conditions. Officials reported that Pran Buri Dam, a key water source, was at 42.89% capacity. To mitigate water shortages, authorities have implemented conservation campaigns, increased water storage capacity, and promoted artesian well drilling. Several areas in Pran Buri have already been declared drought-affected, prompting additional measures such as distributing water via local government resources.

The meeting also reviewed the district’s public infrastructure. While most main roads are paved, there are ongoing issues with gravel roads in remote areas and slow progress on key road improvement projects. Electricity supply remains a challenge in certain military-designated zones, where solar energy is being promoted as an alternative. Law enforcement and social issues, including drug-related cases, were also discussed, with officials citing 94 drug-related arrests in 2024 and efforts to address substance abuse concerns.

The meeting was chaired by Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Sittichai Sawat Saen, alongside Deputy Governor Kittipong Sukphakkun, Permanent Secretary Suthee Laosubinprasert, and Pran Buri District Chief Ram Singhasobhit. Also in attendance were government agency heads, local administrative officials, and community leaders.
