Energy Conservation Training Program for Government Agencies in Prachuap Khiri Khan

Prachuap Khiri Khan province hosted a training seminar focused on promoting energy conservation within government agencies, aiming to enhance understanding and drive efforts to reduce electricity and fuel consumption. The event took place on February 13, 2025, at the Singkhorn Conference Room in the Prachuap Grand Hotel, located in the provincial capital.

The seminar, inaugurated by Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Sittichai Sawatsan, was attended by a wide range of local officials and experts, including Nopadol Suangpradit, the Provincial Energy Officer, and Suntorn Usabrisut from the Samut Songkhram Provincial Energy Office. A total of 68 government agencies from both regional and provincial levels participated in the session.

The program provided a detailed overview of the current energy situation, the process of energy transition, the ongoing challenges of climate change, and relevant resolutions from the Cabinet. Additionally, the seminar covered techniques for reducing energy usage, aimed at achieving a 20% reduction target, along with how to track and report progress through the e-report system (www.e-report.energy.go.th).

The event also facilitated discussions and a Q&A session where participants could share experiences, address challenges, and clarify any doubts. Furthermore, an evaluation survey was conducted to assess the session’s effectiveness.

In terms of progress, Prachuap Khiri Khan’s provincial government reported significant improvements in energy savings during the previous fiscal year. In the first six months of 2024 (October to March), government agencies managed to cut electricity consumption by 39.08% and fuel use by 60.07% compared to baseline standards. In the second half of the year (April to September), electricity consumption was reduced by 44.46%, and fuel consumption by 62.82%.

The training session is part of ongoing efforts to meet energy reduction goals for the 2025 fiscal year. The province aims to ensure that all 177 local government units, including provincial administration offices, district offices, and local administrative organizations, adhere to energy-saving measures in line with Cabinet mandates. Through these initiatives, the province also seeks to contribute to broader climate change mitigation efforts.

The seminar concluded with the continued commitment of local agencies to meet these critical energy conservation objectives for the year ahead.
