Hua Hin is set to make history as it hosts Thailand’s first LGBTQIAN+ marriage registration at the “Hua Hin Grand Inter Pride 2025” on January 23. The event, to be held at the Hua Hin Convention Center at Bluport Hua Hin, coincides with the upcoming enforcement of the Civil and Commercial Code Amendment Act (No. 24) B.E. 2567—commonly referred to as the Marriage Equality Act. This landmark legislation positions Thailand as the first Southeast Asian nation and the third in Asia to recognize same-sex marriages, underscoring the country’s commitment to gender equality and LGBTQIAN+ rights.
Organized by Hua Hin District in collaboration with Bluport Hua Hin and public and private sector partners such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, Hua Hin Municipality, and the Hua Hin/Cha-am Tourism Business Association, the event aims to celebrate the diversity of love while boosting Hua Hin’s reputation as a welcoming destination for LGBTQIAN+ tourists.
“This event marks an important step toward equality in Thai society,” said Ms. Wachi Klomkliang, Executive Director of Hua Hin Asset Co., Ltd., one of the event’s co-organizers. She emphasized that the initiative not only fosters understanding and acceptance of gender diversity but also aligns with Hua Hin’s goal of promoting itself as an inclusive tourist destination. The event will serve as a prelude to the Pride Month festival planned for June, which drew positive feedback from Thai and international visitors last year.
The day’s activities will include marriage registration consultations, pre-wedding photo booths, wedding service showcases, and vendor stalls. The first 23 LGBTQIAN+ couples to officially register their marriage will be treated to a romantic honeymoon package featuring a scenic train journey to Hua Hin, luxurious accommodations, and a celebratory dinner.
The event will also welcome Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Governor and other dignitaries, adding a ceremonial significance to the proceedings. Organizers hope that “Hua Hin Grand Inter Pride 2025” will not only mark a historic milestone for marriage equality but also enhance Hua Hin’s standing as a romantic resort city that celebrates love in all its forms while bolstering local tourism and the economy.
