Prachuap Khiri Khan Hosts Annual New Year Pilgrimage Event

Prachuap Khiri Khan launched the New Year 2025 with its annual “Pilgrimage to Khao Chong Krachok,” a cultural and spiritual event promoting tourism and preserving local traditions. Held on January 1 at 7:40 a.m., the event began at the base of Khao Chong Krachok, with Vice Governor Kittipong Sukhpakakul presiding over the ceremony.

Organized by Prachuap Khiri Khan Municipality, the event celebrated the legacy of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who in 1958 placed sacred relics atop the mountain. This tradition aims to encourage locals and visitors to pay their respects at the hilltop stupa, which houses the relics, while enjoying panoramic views of the city.

Participants, including officials, students, and tourists from Thailand and abroad, signed a ceremonial saffron cloth, later draped over the stupa as part of a collective blessing for the New Year. The initiative seeks to preserve the cultural heritage of adorning the sacred site and to inspire tourism in the region.

The religious segment of the event was led by Phra Thep Wachirasuthee, the provincial monk dean, underscoring its spiritual significance.
