On December 23, 2024, local authorities in Hua Hin, including the Public Health Officer, Mr. Janwit Pholitsak, led a joint operation aimed at enforcing the Alcohol Control Act B.E. 2551 (2008) and the Tobacco Control Act B.E. 2560 (2017). This initiative, carried out by the district’s alcohol and tobacco control task force, focused on monitoring and ensuring compliance with these regulations during the New Year holiday period.

The operation involved various local entities such as Hua Hin Hospital, the District Administration, the Excise Department of Prachuap Khiri Khan, the Hua Hin Municipality, and the Hua Hin Police Station. Their efforts included raising public awareness and conducting inspections to remind business owners of the legal requirements concerning the sale of alcohol and tobacco.

Particular attention was given to preventing the sale of alcoholic beverages to individuals under the age of 20. The task force also emphasized that, in the event of an accident involving drivers under 20 with alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit, investigations would be carried out to hold vendors accountable for selling alcohol to minors. Additionally, the team ensured the prohibition of alcohol sales to intoxicated individuals and monitored business hours and promotional activities, which are regulated by law. Tobacco smoking in designated public places was also prohibited, and inspections were carried out at 85 establishments within the district. Authorities found that most businesses were cooperative and adhered to the regulations.
This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to foster a healthier environment and reduce the consumption of alcohol and tobacco, especially during the festive season.
