On December 3, 2024, the Mayor of Hua Hin, Noppon Woratikul, presided over the opening ceremony of the 8th “Local Music and Dance Workshop – Honoring the Ancient Thai Kings” at Petch Samran House. The event was attended by a distinguished group, including Mr. Brian Anderson, President of the Royal Hua Hin Rotary Club, Mrs. Prasertsri Jokkrathai, Chairperson of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Dance and Music Club, and Mrs. Tipawan Sutath, Chairperson of the Local Music and Dance Learning Center, along with council members and invited guests.
The workshop, held from December 3 to 5, 2024, features a series of performances and activities aimed at preserving and celebrating Thailand’s rich cultural heritage. On December 4, participants will engage in a rehearsal of traditional Thai music, while December 5 will showcase local Thai music performances accompanied by traditional dances, all in honor of the country’s kings, past and present, at the Rajabhakti Park. The event’s goals include promoting unity, cultural conservation, and national pride, as well as inspiring local students to appreciate their cultural heritage.
A total of seven schools from the region are participating in the event, including Hua Hin Municipal Demonstration School, Khao Phitak Municipal School, Nong Ka School, Ban Huay Mongkol School, Nong Plub Wittaya School, Ban Sam Roi Yot Bunrak Uthit School, and Ban Nern Kluat School. With 85 participants in total, the workshop also introduces a newly composed song, “Njakita Karaw Stomrach Anusorn,” created by Phanthakan Baithes, with lyrics written by Phanthakan Baithes and music composed by Nipon Klom Bunjong and Samart Koed Mongkhon.
This year’s workshop stands as a tribute to Thailand’s historical monarchs while encouraging youth to nurture a love for their country, culture, religion, and monarchy.
