Authorities in Prachuap Khiri Khan are investigating the murder of a homeless woman, discovered on October 29 in an abandoned restroom near a local market and the Thap Sakae Municipal Childcare Centre. Police responded to the report around 12:30 p.m., finding the body of Ms. Soipradap Thongsuk, 53, lying near a large tamarind tree.
Police Lieutenant Visanu Sangman, Deputy Investigator at Thap Sakae Police Station, led a team of forensic officers and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Rungrueng Thap Sakae Foundation to the scene, where initial assessments indicated the victim had died at least three hours prior. She had visible injuries to her face and torso, suggesting a violent assault.
Mr. Somwang Saisard, 62, a local resident and longtime companion of the victim, told officers that he had been with her for approximately 20 years and that they shared a son. According to Mr. Somwang, who appeared intoxicated at the scene, three unidentified individuals allegedly attacked Ms. Soipradap the previous night, fleeing when he tried to intervene. However, police expressed skepticism over his account, noting his intoxicated state and a history of disputes between the couple often fueled by alcohol.
Forensic specialists gathered fingerprints, DNA, and other evidence to aid in the investigation. Ms. Soipradap’s body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem examination as police work to determine the circumstances of her death.
