A devastated father from Buriram province is pleading for help in locating his 15-year-old daughter, who has been missing for over two weeks, along with nearly 300,000 baht. The father, Mr. Narongchai, 51, shared that the funds in his daughter’s account came from the sale of inherited land, which the family had planned to use to buy a new home. He suspects that an older woman may have enticed his daughter to run away and is calling on authorities to investigate.
The father explained that the money, totaling 262,000 baht, had been placed in his daughter’s account in April after receiving his share from the sale of his mother’s land. He and his wife decided not to keep the money in their own account for fear of spending it, opting instead to trust their only child, Ms. On (name withheld), a first-year vocational student, as she had always been responsible.
Mr. Narongchai recalled that an older woman, identified as Na, 35, who works as an online seller, had recently begun socializing with his daughter, taking her out for meals several times a week. Although he initially assumed the woman had good intentions, he grew concerned as the outings became more frequent.
In August, the father informed his daughter that the family was preparing to use the funds for a home purchase. However, by September, the daughter claimed that her account had been locked, delaying any further action. On October 4, when her father asked her to visit the bank with him to resolve the issue, the young girl left home on her motorcycle and has not returned since.
Three days later, on October 7, Mr. Narongchai reported the disappearance to the Muang Police Station. Despite efforts to contact her via Line, he remains unable to reach her directly by phone. His daughter claimed she was looking for work, but he believes someone may have influenced her decision to run away or taken advantage of her access to the funds.
The distraught father is urging authorities to investigate the disappearance and the money trail. He hopes that the person who may have lured his daughter away will be held accountable and that his daughter will be safely brought back home.
