Pickleball Athletes Awarded Certificates in Hua Hin

Recently, Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul presided over a ceremony to award certificates to pickleball athletes. The event was held at Hua Hin College sports field and saw the participation of Sunthee Tiamtat, Deputy President of the Municipal Council, and Cheep Suksri, a member of the Municipal Council. Seventy youth from the Hua Hin municipality took part in the pickleball training and received their certificates.

Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis, originated in the United States and has gained popularity in Thailand in recent years. The game is played on a badminton-sized court with a lower net, using a plastic ball similar to a tennis ball and large paddles resembling table tennis paddles. The scoring rules are akin to those of table tennis.

The event was organized by Charinee Yusawai and Christopher Petch, with both Thai and international coaches providing training to the young athletes. The training sessions took place on July 27-28, 2024, and were offered free of charge to encourage youth to engage in sports and physical activities. During the event, Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul also joined the youth in playing pickleball, demonstrating his support for the sport and the initiative.
