Prime Minister Visits Hua Hin Airport for Development Updates

On June 16, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin visited Hua Hin District in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province to monitor the progress of Hua Hin Airport’s development. The visit aims to oversee the expansion of flight routes to boost tourism in the region. Currently, only AirAsia operates flights from Hua Hin to Chiang Mai. Accompanying the Prime Minister was Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, who also inspected the area.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Hua Hin follows his recent trip to the region during a Cabinet meeting in Phetchaburi Province. Notably, there are plans to rename Hua Hin Airport to Phet Hua Hin Airport to better reflect its connection to both Hua Hin and Phetchaburi Province. This renaming is part of a broader strategy to enhance tourism links between the two regions.

In addition to the existing Hua Hin-Chiang Mai route, plans are underway to expand flights to the northeastern and southern regions of Thailand. Future routes are also being considered to connect Hua Hin with Malaysia, further solidifying Hua Hin’s status as a significant travel hub.

The presence of high-ranking officials underscores the government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure to support and stimulate tourism.
