Prachuap Province Honors Asian Games Medalists

In a heartwarming and prideful event that unfolded on the 8th of November, 2023, at the 2nd floor of Prachuap Khiri Khan City Hall, esteemed local figures gathered to extend their warmest felicitations to the heroes of Prachuap Province. The event, graced by Acting Major Adisak Noisuwan, Deputy Governor of the Province, and Acting Governor of Prachuap Province, Mr. Kittipong Sukphakkul, was a momentous occasion for the community.

The cause for celebration was three outstanding athletes who had brought honor to their region and country by clinching medals at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China. These athletes, namely Mr. Ballang Tubtimdaeng, affectionately known as Nong Yu, who secured a gold medal in Taekwondo, Miss Benyapa Chantawan, who earned a silver medal in kiteboarding, and Mr. Joseph Jonathan Weston, a bronze medalist in kiteboarding, were at the center of attention.

Acting Major Adisak Noisuwan led the proceedings, extending his heartfelt congratulations to these remarkable athletes. He acknowledged their vital role in enhancing Thailand’s reputation and, more specifically, the esteemed standing of Prachuap Province on the international stage.

The festivities didn’t conclude with the official reception, as the Asian Games heroes went on to pay their respects at the Prachuap Khiri Khan City Pillar Shrine, seeking blessings for their future endeavors. Subsequently, they embarked on a procession along Salachit Road, where Prachuap Wittayalai School awaited. Here, they were met with an enthusiastic crowd of students who came bearing flowers, offering moral support to the triumphant athletes.

Later in the day, the celebration continued at the Bluport Hua Hin Shopping Center, where Mr. Kittipong Sukphakkul, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Province, General Krit Puangwalaisin, Hua Hin District Chief, Ms. Wajee Klomkliang, Executive Director of Hua Hin Asset Company Limited, Mr. Chokchai Wongchakraphat, Managing Director of Bluport Hua Hin, and Ms. Yaowapa Buraphonchai, a former female taekwondo athlete and the 2004 Olympic bronze medalist, gathered to extend their warmest greetings.

The joyous atmosphere was palpable as they offered souvenirs to the three Asian Games heroes. Mr. Ballang Tubtimdaeng (Nong Yu), Miss Benyapa Chantawan, and Mr. Joseph Jonathan Weston were further honored with the placement of their handprints and signatures on pictures, serving as a lasting memento of their remarkable achievements.

Among the enthusiastic fans, the athletes energetically took photos together, capturing the essence of this memorable day. To culminate the celebrations, all three heroes embarked on an open-top car parade that meandered through the streets of Hua Hin city, allowing the community to share in their hard-earned glory and revel in the success of these exceptional athletes.
