On October 26, 2023, the Mayor of Hua Hin City appointed Miss Pilin Kongphan, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin City, to co-sign an agreement outlining the understanding and collaboration in using public disaster machinery to prevent and mitigate disasters in the municipal area of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, and surrounding regions. This is the second revised edition of the agreement, co-signed by Mr. Chaiwat Sibwong, the Director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center, Region 4, Prachuap Khiri Khan. It was also attended by Sopon Thongsaeng, an expert in disaster management at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center, Region 4, Sunat Khonbuun, the Director of the Resource Support Section at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center, Region 4, Udom Duangkhae, the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Jirawat Pharamnee, the Municipal Secretary, and witnessed by Atchawant Kongkanan, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Prachuap Khiri Khan Office. Other attendees included Wasana Srikanchana, the President of the Hua Hin/Cha-am Tourism Business Association, and members of the Hua Hin Lions Club, Roteary Club, and Chamber of Commerce. The signing ceremony took place at the Royal Garden Rajini Park, spanning 19 acres.
The decision to sign this agreement stems from the concept of disaster risk management, ensuring that disaster machinery is readily available in high-risk areas or locations prone to potential catastrophic events. Hua Hin Municipality falls into the category of areas at risk of disasters due to its high-rise buildings and the inadequacy of small-sized fire trucks. As a result, they received support in the form of high-rise firefighting equipment, with a minimum height of 90 meters, to be utilized in the Hua Hin Municipal area, effective since the year 2021.
This signing extends the agreement for an additional year, shifting the expiration date from September 30, 2026, to September 30, 2027. The main focus remains on enhancing collaborative efforts with capable agencies and prepared personnel for effective asset preservation and disaster management in the high-risk areas that require machinery of high capability for immediate response.
