Upcoming ‘Super App’ Set to Coincide with 10,000-Baht Digital Wallet Initiative Launch, Says Deputy Finance Minister

In a groundbreaking announcement, Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat unveiled plans for the imminent completion of a versatile mobile application, aptly dubbed the “super app.” Scheduled for a release early next year, this development aligns seamlessly with the highly anticipated launch of the 10,000-baht digital wallet initiative.

The “super app” has been meticulously crafted to serve as a multifaceted solution, meticulously prepared by its developers to complement the upcoming digital wallet scheme, poised to make its grand debut between February and March of the coming year. While not all of the app’s functionalities will be immediately operational, they will be activated on an as-needed basis, ensuring a gradual and seamless integration into the digital ecosystem. Some of these features will be accessible for registration, slated to commence next month.

Deputy Finance Minister Julapun underscored an important aspect of the digital wallet initiative during the announcement, noting that vendors who operate outside the formal tax network will be unable to directly convert their digital wallet funds into cash. However, these vendors can harness their balance to make purchases from other vendors within the established tax system, demonstrating the government’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and taxation compliance.
