Thailand Golf Travel Mart (TGTM) 2023 Elevates Thai Tourism

In an elegant ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Resort Vana Nava Hua Hin, Prachuap Province, an exciting event unfolded recently. Mr. Thanet Phetsuwan, Deputy Governor for Asia and the South Pacific at The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), took center stage as he presided over the grand opening of the much-anticipated “Thailand Golf Travel Mart (TGTM) 2023.” Dignitaries and honored guests from various spheres graced this occasion, signifying its significance in the realm of Thai tourism.

Mr. Thanet Phetsuwan shared insights into TAT’s unwavering commitment to bolstering Thai tourism by offering enriching and sustainable travel experiences for visitors. The focus, he emphasized, was on attracting quality tourists who possess significant spending capacity, with a particular emphasis on niche markets such as golf enthusiasts. This niche, recognized for its untapped potential, prompted TAT to organize the “Thailand Golf Travel Mart (TGTM) 2023,” marking a significant return after a hiatus of over four years. Thailand stands prepared in terms of location and top-tier facilities, boasting more than 300 golf courses dotted across the nation, each framed by stunning natural beauty. This proliferation of golfing options has turned Thailand into a magnet for golf aficionados, subsequently catalyzing the sale of a diverse range of tourism products and services, including spa experiences, shopping opportunities, and delectable Thai cuisine. Such endeavors, he noted, serve as a springboard for generating sustainable income and added value within the tourism sector.

The event, hosted between an undisclosed set of dates in September, unfolded across the enchanting provinces of Phetchaburi and Prachuap. The itinerary included Golf Inspection activities at the illustrious Banyan Golf Club Hua Hin, Market Briefing sessions aimed at updating stakeholders on tourism products, services, and golf-related facilities. Of notable significance were the business negotiation sessions, drawing participation from 64 golf tour operators hailing from 15 countries worldwide. Furthermore, representatives from 71 golf courses and resorts in Thailand congregated at the Holiday Inn Resort Vana Nava Hua Hin, facilitating networking opportunities. The climax featured a memorable round of golf at the scenic Springfield Royal Country Club in Phetchaburi Province.

TAT envisions this event as a pivotal platform for catalyzing business opportunities within the golf tourism sector, reinvigorating the industry while simultaneously elevating Thailand’s status as a “World Class Golf Destination.” The aim is to entice golf enthusiasts from across the globe to select Thailand as their primary destination. Such endeavors promise to be a linchpin in stimulating the nation’s economy and aligning tourism revenues from international markets with the ambitious targets set for 2023.
