On the matter of the Pheu Thai Party’s pledge to institute a 20-baht metro fare in Bangkok, a proposal not included in the government’s forthcoming policy declarations to parliament, the Prime Minister elucidated. He explained that the government’s policy purview extends beyond metro fares, encompassing all modes of transportation, such as water, air, road, and rail. The government’s role includes overseeing metro line interconnectivity and the introduction of universal ticketing systems. Consequently, fare structures and potential compensation mechanisms will warrant comprehensive review.
Prime Minister Thavisin is scheduled to embark on a weekend excursion to the northeastern provinces of Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and Nong Khai. Expressing awareness of various challenges facing the general populace, including the effects of El Nino on the region’s climate, he intends to engage with local farmers during his visit to gain valuable insights into their concerns.
