In a distinguished ceremony held on September 4, 2023, Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, the Mayor of Hua Hin City, paid his respects to His Majesty as he received the prestigious Princess Environmental Health Award for the year 2023. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak presented this esteemed accolade to Mr. Wutthikul, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field of environmental health. This momentous event took place at the reception room of the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Lak Si District, Bangkok. Accompanying Mr. Wutthikul was Mr. Theeraphan Jadphon, Director of the Public Health and Environment Division.
The award ceremony was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, and their dedicated pursuit of excellence in environmental health. The Department conducts a meticulous process of recruitment and selection to identify deserving individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to this critical field.
Since its inception in 2015, the Princess Environmental Health Award has recognized two outstanding individuals or organizations annually, each contributing to the advancement of environmental health in Thailand. This year, in 2023, the award categories included the “Outstanding Organization in Environmental Health” and the “Outstanding Person in Environmental Health.”
For the category of “Outstanding Organization in Environmental Health,” Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul represented the sole recipient. His dedication and initiatives in Hua Hin City have evidently had a profound impact on the environmental health industry, benefiting people on a national scale.
Simultaneously, the award for the “Outstanding Person in Environmental Health” went to Mrs. Anchalee Jammuang, Director of the Public Health and Environment Division at Yasothon Municipality in Yasothon Province. Mrs. Jammuang’s exemplary work in her role has undoubtedly contributed to the betterment of environmental health practices within her community.
