Prime Minister Collaborates with Aviation Industry to Boost Tourism Ahead of Peak Season

In a strategic move aimed at fortifying the nation’s tourism industry for the impending high season, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin convened a pivotal meeting with prominent representatives from the aviation sector. With projections indicating a surge in tourist arrivals during the final quarter of this year, this preparatory gathering underlined the administration’s commitment to reinvigorate Thailand’s tourism landscape.

The conference witnessed the convergence of influential figures, including delegates from the esteemed Airports of Thailand (AOT), the managerial custodians of key international gateways within the country, alongside the Chief Executive Officers of eight distinguished air carriers. Preceding the assembly, Prime Minister Srettha introduced the prospective contenders for vital ministerial positions within his forthcoming Cabinet. These individuals are poised to shoulder the responsibility of steering the nation’s economic course.

Underscoring the urgency of the matter, the Prime Minister articulated his intent to embark on comprehensive tourism revitalization immediately upon taking office. Notably, the final quarter of the year emerges as a pivotal juncture for fostering economic resurgence, coinciding with a peak season for travel and exploration.

Kerati Kijmanawat, President of Airports of Thailand, shared insights following his Friday dialogue with the Prime Minister, elucidating discussions with representatives from various organizations. Central to these deliberations was the pressing concern of flight scarcity serving Bangkok and Phuket airports. The aviation sector recognizes the imperative of proactively crafting flight slots to accommodate future air traffic originating from destinations such as China and beyond. As such, concerted efforts are directed at optimizing operations across six of Thailand’s strategic airports.

Expressing a unified commitment to this pivotal initiative, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, Chief Executive Officer and President of Bangkok Airways, as well as the President of the Airlines Association of Thailand, reaffirmed their airline’s unwavering readiness for the impending high travel season. This alignment echoes a collective determination to facilitate seamless and satisfying travel experiences for both domestic and international tourists.

As Thailand readies itself for the anticipated surge in tourism, the collaborative and resolute approach demonstrated by the Prime Minister’s engagement with the aviation sector sets a promising precedent for a well-coordinated and robust response to the heightened demands of the forthcoming peak travel season.
