Collaborative Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation Drill: On August 25th, 2023, the Mayor of Hua Hin Municipality assigned Deputy Mayor Busaba Chokasuchat the responsibility of leading the municipal officials from the Disaster Prevention and Relief Department in a collaborative disaster preparedness and mitigation drill. This annual exercise took place at the U-turn point of Hua Na Road on the west side of Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
The scenario involved a simulation where two firefighters were injured and lost consciousness during their operational duties. The incident was reported to the unit leader by the head of the firefighting team, who then requested assistance from the Hua Hin Foundation Ambulance. The ambulance team arrived swiftly and provided initial medical aid before transferring the injured individuals to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the firefighting team effectively managed and controlled the fire, restoring normalcy to the area. The drill not only highlighted the professionalism and seamless coordination of the local authorities but also underscored the importance of collective efforts in successful disaster management.
The primary objective of this exercise was to establish a comprehensive disaster preparedness framework, ensuring seamless coordination among different stakeholders, including disaster prevention and relief officials, police personnel, and charitable foundations. The goal was to facilitate rapid and efficient responses to emergencies by clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of each entity before, during, and after a crisis.
This drill demonstrated the participants’ dedication to harmonizing their actions and collaborating effectively with other agencies. Ultimately, it enhanced the confidence of both Hua Hin’s residents and tourists in the government’s readiness and capabilities to respond to various potential disasters. Such initiatives play a critical role in bolstering the community’s resilience against unforeseen events, underscoring the significance of meticulous planning and strategic cooperation.
