On April 11, 2023, Mr. Phon Krit Phuangvalaisin, the Sheriff of Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, held a press conference to announce the success of the “25th Hua Hin Red Cross and Good Things” event. The event, held from March 31 to April 9, 2023, took place at the activity area of 25 rai, located behind the Blue Port shopping center in Soi Hua Hin 102. Its goal was to raise funds for relief activities to aid victims of natural disasters and provide welfare support to the underprivileged, handicapped, and poor populations in Hua Hin District.
One of the most popular attractions at the event was the Red Cross Macha Shop for Charity, where visitors had a chance to win numerous prizes by purchasing a ticket for 20 baht. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the people of Hua Hin District and nearby provinces, this year’s event was a huge success. Various business operators in Hua Hin and nearby districts, including Phetchaburi province, also contributed to the “Matcha Red Cross” shop by donating items to be sold at the event. Additionally, the event included a focus on safe agriculture and OTOP products, which proved to be highly successful.
In terms of revenue, the Red Cross earned approximately 1.8 million baht in cash from the event, although the final amount has not been formally concluded. The Red Cross also sold approved Red Cross cards for 20 baht each, raising a total of 2 million baht. All of the Red Cross cards were sold out, resulting in a total gross income of almost 3,800,000 baht, surpassing this year’s target.
Mr. Phon Krit stated that the funds raised from the event will be allocated to the same areas as last year, including providing scholarships for poor and underprivileged students, caring for patients and the underprivileged, distributing survival bags, repairing homes for the poor, and other charitable tasks. The funds will be directed towards the Thai Red Cross Society to alleviate the burden on the Provincial Red Cross and to help those who have suffered, both through existing plans and those who have received ad hoc notices. This approach will result in faster and more flexible administration of relief activities.
Mr. Phon Krit expressed his gratitude towards everyone who contributed to the success of the event, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and community support. “You help the Red Cross, we help the Red Cross, the Red Cross helps us,” he said.
