Authorities have reported that the wildfires in Nakhon Nayok province are almost completely contained and are expected to be extinguished within days. The wildfire, caused by a lightning strike on Khao Cha Phlu on Tuesday, quickly spread to nearby Khao Laem and Khao Nang Dam due to strong winds in the area.
Over the past week, officials have set up fire barriers to contain the flames and have worked tirelessly to prevent them from spreading to Khao Yai National Park. Officials have noted in a recent report that they have limited the fires on Khao Laem to designated hotspots, with the most major concerns being inaccessible areas such as cliffs and steep areas.
To combat the blaze, helicopters have been conducting aerial firefighting operations while fire barriers have been erected to keep the flames at bay. Officials are hopeful that the Khao Laem wildfires will be completely extinguished within a few days.
