The Cabinet approved salary increases for a number of skilled employees this week, effective 90 days after the rule is published in the Royal Gazette.
According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek, the new minimum daily earnings for some of these vocations include:
-Pump and valve technicians, who will now be paid 515 baht each day. Mechatronics and industrial robot controllers will be paid between 545 and 715 baht per month, depending on their expertise.
-Tractor repair operators will be paid 465 baht to 620 baht, depending on their expertise. Meanwhile, excavator controller pay will be increased to 585 baht per day.
-In addition, compensation for holistic food therapists, aqua therapists, and aromatherapists would be increased from 500 baht to 600 baht.
-In the meanwhile, bartenders will be paid between 475 and 600 baht per hour, depending on their expertise.
Employers are forbidden from paying employees wages that are less than the minimum wage rate or that do not meet certain workmanship criteria after the modifications are in effect.
Violators risk up to six months in jail or a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.
