Thailand takes part in 125th Mekong Joint Patrol

On Sunday (15 January), Thai law enforcement officers joined those from China, Laos, and Myanmar to begin the 125th Mekong River joint patrol.

The patrol, which is planned to last four days and three nights, will focus on combating cross-border crimes in order to guarantee river safety and stability.

The Mekong River is an important cross-border trade route, and the four countries have been conducting cooperative patrols on it since December 2011.

In 2022, law enforcement officials from the four nations conducted 12 combined patrols around the canal, dispatching more than 200 ships and 2,700 law enforcement officers.
